THE GREAT AMAZING RACE, a national family-friendly competition modeled after the popular TV show THE AMAZING RACE, returns to Memphis on Sunday, Oct. 26, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Aycock Park in Millington. Registration is open online at www.GreatAmazingRace.com, Whether you’re a first time runner or seasoned athlete, the race will be an unforgettable experience.
Teams consisting of two-people (adults & kids grades K-12) race around a one-mile cross country course in competition with other teams. Teams complete a string of fun-filled challenges that focus on teamwork and reach the finish line with the fastest overall time. The top 25 teams qualify for regional championship race and chance to win $2,000.
Waves begin every 10 minutes – kids teams, then adult teams. Teams can run, jog or walk as recreation and competitive levels are offered.
“The Great Amazing Race is labeled the place ”where smiles and teamwork rule the day” because our challenges evoke lots of smiles and focus on teamwork vs individuality. Teammates must work together closely in order to complete each challenge,” said Greg Benton, founder of the Great Amazing Race. “The challenges are lots of fun and contestants should be prepared to get a little wet and dirty.”
The Great Amazing Race hosts races in many of the NFL, NBA and MLB cities around the country. The race is partnered with the Max Cure Foundation, which has raised over $2 million dollars to fight against pediatric cancer. Teams that donate 2 pairs of used sneakers or running shoes will receive free mulligan/time-saver tokens for the race.
Registration is only $40 per team and is limited to 120 teams. Teams consist of two people – adult/adult, adult/kid or kid/kid. Special pricing is available for teachers, military, law enforcement & fire departments.
Any group, club, school or organization that has at least 10 teams represented in the Race will receive a $100-$150 payment.

The GREAT AMAZING RACE is a national D.I.T. (Do-it-Together) family-friendly competition series modeled after the popular TV show, THE AMAZING RACE. Teams of two people race around a one-mile cross country course in competition with other teams. Teams strive to arrive at the finish line with the fastest overall time to be declared the winners. Teams complete a string of up to eight fun-filled challenges speckled every 200 yards. Clue Cards provided at each station directs teams to perform a challenge with an emphasis on teamwork, before proceeding to the next challenge station. The top 25 teams from each local competition qualify for regional championship race and chance to win $2,000.
