Cal 2015 NARFE OFFICERS 12-25The 2015 officers for the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 1382 of Millington, were inducted at the christmas luncheon meeting held Dec. 11 at Old Timers Restaurant.  Pictured from left are Linda Mashburn (treasurer), Linda Wood (secretary), Donald Smith (vice president) and Dorothy Bolden (president). Month of January
Tickets are now available for the locally-made movie “Awakening Of A Troubled Mind” today until Feb. 7. The movie will be screened at Studio On The Square on Thursday, March 12 and there will be two showings at 7 and 9 p.m. This is a RIPP Entertainment Film Production and for more information, call 825-1718.

The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

Millington Airport Authority Board of Commissioners Meetings are scheduled at 3:30 p.m. every third Tuesday at Millington Regional Jetport. For more information, call 873-5796.

Jordan’s Thrifts, Gifts & Java located at 6646 Highway 51 North by Plantation Oaks Hotel will be starting classes on Jan. 6 from 6-8 p.m. for the following classes: Domestic Violence, Shelter from the Storm (Overcoming Sexual Abuse) and Celebrate Recovery (Overcoming Addictions). West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church is inviting all to their Sunday morning worship services. The subject of the worship services during January, 2015, is Stewardship. Rev. James Hamblin will be delivering the message each Sunday morning at 11 a.m.

The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

Soul Out Ministries’ Hot Nutritional Meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center at 7942 Church Street from noon to 1 p.m. The program is a local non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible. Jan. 17
The New Business Expo will be showcasing small businesses in the city of Memphis and surrounding areas. This event will highlight unique and entertaining products, one stop shopping, and family fun. Local businesses will have the opportunity to market their products, network, and increase revenue. The New Business Expo will be held Saturday Jan. 17, from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Hickory Ridge Mall located on 6075 Winchester Road, Memphis, TN 38115. Shoppers will have the opportunity to find huge discounts and deals for a variety of items catering to all occasions. Shoppers will be amazed at how much the New Business Expo has to offer. Black & White Together Again — Millington Churches Unite will be held Jan. 19 as a celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. First United Methodist and St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal will come together at 6836 Navy Road in Millington starting at 10 a.m.

Jan. 31
Grace Baptist Church located at 9171 Brunswick Road in Millington, will be hosting the “The Greenes,” a Southern Gospel Quartet. The concert will be a the church Saturday evening Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. There is no admission, however a love offering will be received. For more information, call 591-5485.

Feb. 7
Temple United Methodist Church, 4404 Sykes Road, Millington, will be hosting an educational program on Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. about bees. The Bartlett Bee Whisperer will be here to tell us where the bees are going, the health benefits of honey, how bees benefit humans and our environment, as well as providing information about how to become a beekeeper. No cost. Open to the public.

Returning in 2015 –
April 10 & 11 in Atoka
After a very successful years, the Atoka BBQ Fest will be back again in 2015. The contest will take place in Atoka on April 10 and 11. It will be located at Nancy Lane Park, 118 Atoka Park Ave., on the South side of the Park. The contest will again be sanctioned by the Memphis Barbeque Network, featuring Pro and Challenger divisions. New for 2015, is the Kids Cook-Off, don’t foget to check it out. All of the great live music, family entertainment, and vendors will be back again.
