Chairman of the Millington Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Pam Kendrick announced the appointment today of Dianne Baker as the interim executive director of the Chamber effective immediately.
“The future of the Chamber and continued growth is vital to our success and the success of Millington. I speak for the executive board when I say, Dianne has our best interest in the forefront and will lead the chamber on an interim basis,” stated Pam Kendrick. Kendrick went on to say, “Dianne will work with the Board of Directors to insure the involvement in the community continues to grow.”
Baker’s presence in the community is unprecedented; she is engaged with the Millington Planning Commission and a board member for the Millington Area Chamber of Commerce. Through Dianne’s leadership as the Chair of the Millington Area Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber was able to increase membership, boast involvement in the community and give back to the Millington Education Foundation. Dianne’s vision and attention to detail with community involvement is the leadership the Millington Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking.
Baker is a graduate of Millington High School, receiving her undergraduate at North Alabama and finishing her graduate at University of Tennessee. She spent 20 years as real estate broker and owner of Homes by Miss Dianne, holding her state license as a general contractor. Baker put her talents to work in Millington, Bartlett, Munford and Atoka over that 20-year time span.
Baker is a current volunteer for the Orpheum with husband, Bob, and served on the Board of Directors for the YMCA in Millington from 2009-2011.
In 2009 she received the volunteer of the year award from the YMCA of Memphis in the Mid-South. She also received the Home Builders award for Millington in 2007 and the reader’s choice award for home builders in 2015. In addition, Baker was awarded the Person of the Year Award by the Millington Area Chamber of Commerce in 2014.
Baker has the support of her husband and best friend, Bob of 44 years, her three children and two grandchildren. She has a love for her church, enjoys playing bridge and traveling.
Baker will step down as ex-officio member of the board to serve as the interim executive director.
The Millington Area Chamber of Commerce will be looking to fill the executive director position in the next several months.
“I am so excited to be able to represent the Millington Area Chamber in this role, my love for the community and its future is a priority for me. It’s an honor and extraordinary opportunity to serve as an advocate, promoting business and economic growth in my hometown,” Baker stated.
“Dianne has a proven history of performance with the Chamber and I am confident that she will do all she can to keep the Millington Chamber of Commerce on the path of success,” stated Danny Brown, incoming Chairman of the Board.
