To the Reader,
There may be a single most important thing you must do in your lifetime. That is to find the reason and a way for your life. You say to have children. No That is that others might have a chance to look for the reason and a way for their life. What is it? You find your answer in the Ten Commandments.
I will make a feeble attempt to explain my understanding of the Ten Commandments in the next ten articles. One each week for each of the Ten Commandments. Starting with the first. When I have finished I hope you will find them hidden all through the Old and New Testaments. They are in Christ’s own words, “If you love me keep my Commandments.” John 14:15 and John 15:10
The first Commandment- Love God.
This is simple and easy to understand but, do we truly comprehend how to go about it?
Let us examine the relationship of love between a man and a woman. There are some similarities in the ways of love in the spirit.
First, we discover that she exists. We see her and like what we see. We want to get to know her and we look for ways to approach her.
We investigate through ones we find that know her and learn what she likes. We look for ways to meet her and try to be what we think she would like. We make ourself known to her and ask if we could be together.
Second, we find out that there are things we do, such as drink or smoke, that she does not like. We tell her we are sorry and will give them up.
We become joined in love. The more and longer we are together, we grow in love. You know she loves you because she does things that show you she loves. You love her and want to please her by doing the things you know she likes. You trust her and knows she trusts you. This is what I call loving trust (faith). You have faith in her and she in you.
This is the reason for your creation. This is why God made you for, you to love Him.
If you could keep this one single Commandment you would have no problem keeping the others.
If you know not God, seek Him. He will make Himself known to you. Learn the Commandments to know what He likes and change your ways to His ways and He will accept you. It comes with peace and joy.
