Star Staff Reports
“Freezing rain, sleet and snow will begin about noon tomorrow and could continue through Thursday morning. Ice will likely be on the roads, especially bridges and overpasses,” said Dale Lane, Director of the Shelby County Office of Preparedness.
Shelby County Public works crews are on alert. “Our salt and sand trucks will be ready when the wintery mix moves into the area,” said Tom Needham, Director of Shelby County Public Works.
“The winter weather will linger for the next few days. People need to keep a close watch on people who live alone, especially the elderly and disabled,” added Lane.
Thursday night’s low will be in the single digits. Friday’s low will dip into the teens.
