Dyson shoots for Miss Teen Tennessee March 21

Dyson 1 Dyson 2Desiree’ Dyson, the daughter of Maurice and Twyalla Dyson, could bring home Miss Tennessee Teen Princess later this month.
She is also the sister to UMass forward and Covington High School graduate Demetrius Dyson.
She is a 15 year old sophomore at Brighton High School where she maintains a 3.8 GPA while being enrolled in College Preparatory Classes.  Desiree’ is the 2017 Vice-President of Student Council, a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish Honor Society, HOSA, SADD, Junior Auxiliary Crown Club, 6th Man, and varsity cheerleader for the football and basketball Team.  Dyson was named Memphis Fit Kid in 2013 and featured in the Memphis Health and Fitness Magazine.  She was 2013 Miss Memphis Teen Princess, 2014 Miss Mid-South Heritage Teen Princess, and is the reigning Miss Tipton County Teen Princess 2015.
The girl with the impressive resume’ will compete for the title of Miss Tennessee Teen Princess 2015 in Jackson on March 21 at the Carl Perkins Center.  Her platform is Forever Endeavor: Bullying Prevention and Education.
Dyson was selected as an ambassador for Jump Rope for Heart.  She also hosted a fitness camp for at risk fourth and fifth grade students at Munford Elementary School. In addition, she has visited with various classrooms, civic organizations, and community groups to share my message of the benefits of respecting yourself in all you do. This past February, she organized an Anti-Bullying summit at Boys and Girls Club of the Hatchie River Region.  She has been taught to lead by example. She hosted a “Tackle Hunger Crusade” in conjunction with a “Souper” Bowl Sunday food drive.
She also organized a “Love Letters” campaign where Valentine’s Day cards were paired with a Meals on Wheels dinner and sent out to local senior citizens. Most recently, she implemented a bullying awareness patch program with Girl Scout Heart of the South troop number 13806.
“To help raise funds for CMNH locally, I have volunteered at Fred’s Miracle Balloon Drive, Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day, and IHOP’s National Pancake Day,” Dyson said, “Tipton County Outstanding Citizen Award recipient. I spearheaded an anti-bullying week in Brighton and hosted anti-bullying summit at Boys and Girls Club of Hatchie River Region. I’ve also coordinated a “Tackle Hunger” Souper Bowl drive. I’ve implemented a Bullying Awareness patch for Girl Scout Heart of the South troop number 13806.”
In addition to those, Dyson has hosted a fitness camp for Project Succeed students, Presidential Volunteer Service Award Gold Medal Recognition. Her resume’ also includes her collecting and packaging more than 100 items to send to soldiers stationed in Afghanistan. And she helped pass out thousands of food and clothing items to those in need.
