Munford’s Welch heading to CBU Softball

Maddison Welch signing team Maddison Welch signingThe Munford Lady Cougar to sign to play softball at the next level is senior Maddison Welch. The Lady Cougars infielder inked her national letter of intent to play softball with the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs in the Munford High School Library with parents Shannon and Joan present. Also in attendance were Maddison’s teammates and Head Coach Glenn Goulder.

Welch has been a vital part of three Lady Cougar Softball teams to reach State in her career. Goulder described her as a steady and dependable middle infielder and effective hitter in the top of the lineup.

Welch has played since she was a youngster in Atoka and has played travel softball.

In the seventh grade, she added a new sport to her resume’, volleyball. While at Munford High, Welch reached Sub-State every season she played for the volleyball team. She joins the likes of former Lady Cougars Jodie Duncan, Sami Jo Schulz and Cali Overbeck to play both volleyball and softball, then sign a college scholarship.
