BREAKING NEWS: Shelby County Corrections Center Inmate Walks Away From Work Crew

Law enforcement officers are searching for a Shelby County Corrections Center inmate who walked away from a work-release detail near south Memphis today.

Just after Noon, Bobby Lee Jackson, 26, left the pallet shipping area of Drexel Chemical, 2489 Pennsylvania.

A supervisor saw Jackson walk away from the building and join a woman wearing a black jacket. The woman gave Jackson a gray hoodie sweatshirt.  The two were last seen walking north-bound on Third Street.

Jackson was part of an eight-inmate crew assigned to the chemical plant. He is serving a three-year sentence for Aggravated Burglary.

Bobby Lee Jackson is black, stands 5’9”, weighs 165 pounds and has short black hair.  He has tattoos on both arms.

One tattoo on his left arm says, “Bobby Like Father Like Son.”  Another tattoo on his right arm says, “Like Son.” 

Jackson and other correction center inmates who meet certain qualifications are permitted to work at various government facilities, non-profit organizations and businesses throughout Shelby County.
