Local High School Students Honored by Veterans Group

AmerLegion_color_Emblem (1)The Harry M. Crawford American Legion Post 252 Millington recently honored  several high school students for outstanding achievements.
Munford High School Senior Hunter Markey received the Harry M. Crawford American Legion Scholarship Award at the Student Award Night on April 23rd.  Markley has been accepted to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  He was nominated by his grandfather, Legionnaire Richard Markley of Millington.  The scholarship is valued at $1,000 and is presented annually by the Millington American Legion Post.
Two Millington Central High School Juniors were accepted to American Legion Boys’ State to be held at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville at the end of May.  Eric Brown and Jerrett Everson will be the delegates for a week long camp that teaches leadership, politics and government at the state and local level. The American Legion operates these Boys’ State Programs in 49 States.  The Tennessee State Supreme Court will actually hear a case in front of the delegates in Cookeville.
The Millington Central High School’s Junior Navy ROTC Detachment honored two students at the Military Ball on April  25 at the Pat Thompson Center.  Cadet Ania Griggs received the American Legion ROTC Medal for Scholastic Achievement and Cadet Noah Stephens received the American Legion ROTC Medal for Military Excellence.
