Rain & Shine: 2015 Munford Graduation a night to remember

By Thomas Sellers Jr.

Graduation rain 1 Graduation rain 2 Graduation rain 3 Graduation rain 4 Graduation shine 1 Graduation shine 2 Graduation shine 3There were some changes to the 2015 Commencement Exercises of Munford High School Friday night scheduled to start 7 p.m.

As a cloud of doom rolled over the Dr. Sid Witherington Stadium field, thousands of spectators in attendance for the graduation of the Class of 2015 started to seek shelter. Just as an announcement of a delay was made over the public address system, the rain started to pour about 6:46 p.m.

The faculty, staff and administrators had to execute their backup plan of using the Munford Gymnasium and ticket system. Other guest either watched the live steam of the graduation in nearby classrooms or online.

Munford Principal Dr. Courtney Fee apologized for the last-second changes but the commencement exercise began shortly before 8 p.m.

The Munford Choir had a chance to perform “Seasons of Love,” and Student Council President Julie Brewer welcomed all those who braved the weather. Historian Stanley Gatlin II and Salutatorian Rachel Hull addressed their peers with speeches.

Then it was time to recognize all the graduates with the administration and Director of Schools for Tipton County Dr. William Bibb.
