Boys’ Soccer Star of the Season

Carlos Lipsey

The Millington Trojan senior had one of the best seasons in school history in goals. Lipsey tallied 11 goals in one week. He was a key part in the Trojans having a winning record and finishing among the top of District 14-3A. He finished with a total of 18 goals on the season.

Baseball Star of the Season

Kyle Hindman

The Munford senior was the best player on one of the best teams in District 13-3A. Part of the Cougars surprising the league and reaching Regionals was the play of Hindman. The All-District player was one of the leaders in hits, runs and RBIs for Munford.

Softball Star of the Season

Rachel Whitley

The Tipton-Rosemark Academy freshman led the team in wins with her pitching. But her production at the plate was crucial in the Lady Rebels reaching Sub-State. Whitley contributed to the State championship team last season as an eighth grader and displayed in her freshman campaign her future is getting brighter.

This past season was the Brighton junior’s coming out party. Layne earned All-District and All-Region honors this past season. She was named the District 13-3A MVP because of her performance in the circle.

Baseball Pitching Star of the Season

Joseph Fulcher

The Munford junior ace was the big-game pitcher for the Cougars. He had a double-digit strikeout performance at Millington and then tossed a no-hitter to start the District 13-3A Tournament in Brighton.

Boys’ Track Star of the Season

Artavius Thomas

The Millington Trojan senior reached the State Track Meet in Murfreesboro this past May in the Long and Triple jumps. He brought home a medal in the triple jump. On his way to State, Thomas racked up victories in major meets across the Mid-South.

Tennis Star of the Season

Blake Armour and Nathan Yoder

The Brighton duo returned to the Class 3A State Doubles Tournament in Murfreesboro this year. Yoder, a senior, joined his sophomore partner for their second straight trip to State to take on the duo of Jake Gibson and Shivang Patel from Cleveland High School.

Girls’ Newcomer of the Year

Molly Word

The TRA Lady Rebel displayed a lot of potential in volleyball and basketball. She was effective in both sports on the offensive side and will blossom into a go-to player as she matures.

Boys’ Newcomer of the Year

Keno Taylor

The Millington sophomore running back had a short window to display his natural abilities on the gridiron before an injury against Bartlett. Before the hit to this leg, Taylor was well on his way to an 1,000-yard season. He has a natural ability at the position evading would-be tacklers and has a second gear that will increase in speed.
