The 2015 Flag City Freedom Celebration is scheduled for Friday, July 3 at the Navy Lake. The event is scheduled to kickoff at 5 p.m. and last until the firework display. More information on the festivities to come. There will be a children’s play area for kids like Mikhail Douglas, above, to enjoy (no pets, no fireworks and no open fires). The gate fee is $5 per vehicle. You can bring your picnic baskets, blankets, coolers and lawn chairs. Food and concessions will be available.

The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7175 invite you to attend the celebration of American Independence on July 4. The veterans will honor the colors of the United States at 8 a.m. The public is welcome. It is Vacation Bible School time again at West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Vacation Bible School starts on Sunday, July 5, for youth from the age of 3-sixth grade. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7175 is hosting a dinner show on Saturday featuring Jeffery and The Pacemakers playing the music of the Beatles, Kinks, Rolling Stones and other famous band of the 1950s and 60s from The British Invasion.
