Cal Exchange at Freedom CAL Exchange Fouth of July 7-16Millington Exchange Club members Ken Sullivan and wife Diane handed out flags at the 2015 Flag City Freedom Celebration at Navy Lake on July 3 with a little helper nearby. It was a part of the civic organization’s ‘Give a kid a flag wave.’

Month of July
The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

The Millington Optimist Club meets at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Thursday of the month at Pig N Whistle located at 6084 Kerrville Rosemark Road. For more information, call George Crews at 872-4232 or e-mail

The Millington Quilters Guild meets every Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Maple Room located at 7942 Church Street. Weekly activities and projects are developed for all levels of quilters. This group makes several items to give back to groups such as veterans, families in need, those injured overseas, and children’s hospital’s.

Millington Airport Authority Board of Commissioners Meetings are scheduled at 3:30 p.m. every third Tuesday at Millington Regional Jetport. For more information, call 873-5796.

The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

Soul Out Ministries’ Hot Nutritional Meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center at 7942 Church Street from noon to 1 p.m. The program is a local non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible. Sarge’s Okinawan Freestyle Martial Arts will started April 1 at Baker Community Center in Millington. The American Wado-Ryu Federation International Hall of Fame Enductee Shihan R.L. “Sarge” Covin will be the instructor on Monday and Wednesdays from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The classes are free for children ages 5-18. The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 1382 meeting will be held at noon, Thursday at Old Timers Restaurant in Millington. July 18
ABMA Mid-South Inaugural Summer Jam from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday. The Summer Jam includes a free concert featuring the Section Eight Band, all hands invited and bring a chair. Millington Arts & Recreation presents Trivia Night from 6 to 9 p.m.. Doors open to the Sycamore/Cyprus Rooms located at 7942 Church Street at 6 p.m. with trivia starting 30 minutes later. There is a fee per team. For more information, call 873-5770.

Munford Band Golf Tournament fund raiser for the 2015 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be held July 25 at Forest Hill Golf Course located at 200 Kubo Road in Drummonds. Registration is at noon with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. There is a cost per team (four-person) which includes lunch, cash awards and door prizes. July 29
The 17th Annual Spirit of SRVS Auction, Food and Wine Tasting presented by Sedgwick will take place Aug. 1 at the Hilton Memphis, from 7 to 11:30 p.m.  The Memphis’ auction event includes a silent text to bid auction, live auction, local restaurants and wines from around the world. Musical entertainment provided by The King Beez, Rachel Mast, the Company d dancers and SRVS performers.  Proceeds benefit SRVS programs for more than 1,000 children and adults with disabilities.  Tickets are available for a lower price until July 29; and more at the door.  For more information and to purchase tickets, visit

Aug. 22
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7175 is hosting a dinner show on Saturday featuring Jeffery and The Pacemakers playing the music of the Beatles, Kinks, Rolling Stones and other famous band of the 1950s and 60s from The British Invasion. This is a dinner and a two hour show with dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. The show begins an hour later. For tickets and more information, contact the VFW at 4681 Cuba-Millington Road and 872-7185.

This Summer
West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church will be having a series of sermons based on the book of Romans.  The title of the series is ‘The Gospel of God.’  The sermons will be on Sundays, starting June 28 and ending Aug. 9, at 11 p.m.  The sermons will be delivered by Rev. James Hamblin.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7175 has a new commander that was effective Friday Lt. Col. Charlie Cox (Ret). He will assume command of Post 7175. The Post invites the public to 4681 Cuba-Millington Road for music, drinks, food, karaoke and much more. Come and meet the decorated veterans who live in the community.
