TRA Choir honors 5-7The Tipton-Rosemark Academy Choirs recently made a clean sweep of the awards at the Festivals of Music National Choir Competition in Atlanta.
TRA competed against schools from Pennsylvania to Louisiana. The Women’s Choir won Overall Best Choir at the competition. Ashley Sweeney won Best Soloist. The TRA Jazz Choir, Show Choir, Mixed Choir, and Women’s Choir each won first place in their respective divisions and received a Superior (the highest) rating.
This is the first time in the history of TRA that all four choirs have received Superior ratings at the same festival.
The Tipton-Rosemark Academy Fine Arts Department’s production of  “An Evening with the Characters of Pride and Prejudice”received a school-record 11 nominations for the Memphis Orpheum’s High School Musical Theatre Awards, which will be held on Monday, May 11th.
The cast and crew received the following nominations:

Outstanding Production Materials
Outstanding Chorus
Outstanding Music Direction
Outstanding Hair and Make-Up
Outstanding Costumes
Outstanding Technical Achievement – Patrick Brown
Outstanding Featured Actress – Jessi Edgerly
Outstanding Supporting Actor – A. J. Wimberley
Outstanding Lead Actress – Shelbi Sellers
Outstanding Overall Production (For this nomination, the students will get to perform a segment of the show on the Orpheum stage.)
