Daylee Barrom, 16, has been barrel racing competitively for four years locally and traveling between Mississippi and Arkansas. She is a member of the BBR, National Barrel Horse Association. Barrom is a NBHA Youth World member and Open qualifier for the past two years.  She was the NBHA Youth High Point Champion for Tennessee 05 District in 2014, and she qualified three horses for the NBHA Youth Worlds show this past weekend
Many of her peers from the area qualified to go to Perry, Georgia to compete in the NBHA Youth Worlds Barrel Race. This race has more than 1,000 children that are riding in her age group, which are from all over the world.
The race began Sunday and goes through this Friday, July 24. Then the finals are Saturday. The NBHA TN 05 District has a fund raiser barrel race called Youth Gone Wild that supports the qualifiers who are going to Youth Worlds.  The money raised helps the kids pay for one horse entry, one stall fee, and a processing fee, so that most of the children get a chance to go who otherwise would not get that chance due to the expense.
On July 11, Barrom competed at the USA Stadium in Millington at a NBHA TN 05 local show and she placed third and fourth in the 1D in the Open Class and fifth in the 3D in the Open Class. In the youth class, she placed third in the 1D and would have placed again in the 1D but she hit a barrel on her fastest horse “Two Socks.”    If you knock a barrel over at anytime during the run, it is considered a no time.   Barrom rides three horses when she competes, Two Socks, Steele’s City Feet and The Doc Is In.
