Dr F  4 Dr F 1 Dr F 2 Dr F 3Dr. George S. Flinn, Jr. recently visited the Millington Rotary Club at Patriot Bank July 23 as the guest speaker. Flinn is known as a radiologist at Flinn Clinic located at 1325 Eastmoreland Ave., in Memphis, a politician and as the owner of Flinn Broadcasting. Some of the Flinn Broadcasting stations are Sports 56 and Q 107.5 in the Memphis area. In 2014 he was a candidate in the Republican primary for the United States Senate election in Tennessee.

The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

The Millington Optimist Club meets at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Thursday of the month at Pig N Whistle located at 6084 Kerrville Rosemark Road. For more information, call George Crews at 872-4232 or e-mail

The Millington Quilters Guild meets every Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Maple Room located at 7942 Church Street. Weekly activities and projects are developed for all levels of quilters. This group makes several items to give back to groups such as veterans, families in need, those injured overseas, and children’s hospital’s.

Millington Airport Authority Board of Commissioners Meetings are scheduled at 3:30 p.m. every third Tuesday at Millington Regional Jetport. For more information, call 873-5796.

The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

Soul Out Ministries’ Hot Nutritional Meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center at 7942 Church Street from noon to 1 p.m. will return Sept. 10. The program is a local non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible. For more information, call program founder/coordinator and CEO Carol Jenkins 949-1675.

Sarge’s Okinawan Freestyle Martial Arts will started April 1 at Baker Community Center in Millington. The American Wado-Ryu Federation International Hall of Fame Enductee Shihan R.L. “Sarge” Covin will be the instructor on Monday and Wednesdays from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The classes are free for children ages 5-18. VFW Post 7175 will present ‘Ladies Night’ on Wednesday from 7 to 11 p.m. There will be food, drinks, karaoke, dancing and special prices for women. The event will continue regularly until further notice. For more information, call 872-7175.

Aug. 20
The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 1382  meeting will be held at noon, Thursday, Aug. 20 at Old Timers Restaurant in Millington.  The guest speaker will be  Millington Mayor Terry Jones.  For more information, call Carolyn Cribbis at 413-7123.
Aug. 22
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7175 is hosting a dinner show on Saturday featuring Jeffery and The Pacemakers playing the music of the Beatles, Kinks, Rolling Stones and other famous band of the 1950s and 60s from The British Invasion.
This is a dinner and a two hour show with dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. The show begins an hour later. For tickets and more information, contact the VFW at 4681 Cuba-Millington Road and 872-7185.

Pokerface Events and New Stars Wrestling (NSW) Owner, Quenton “Pokerface” Williams, has announced the date and location of the Second Annual Millington Mayhem pro wrestling event Sept. 19 at the N-82 Gymnasium. The theme will be Loving Our Troops. The gym holds a capacity of 2,000. Pokerface Events will have a booth set up at this year’s Goat Days for wrestling fans and area residents can meet Williams and purchase advance tickets. Williams has also invited Millington VFW Post 7175 as special guest, as well as other area VFW’s. There will be free admission to active and retired military with PROPER MILITARY ID. Sept. 12
Holly Grove CP Church will be having its Hunter D. Stafford Memorial Wildlife Supper on Sept. 12. This is open to all and admission is free. For more information, call Holly Grove CP Church at 476-8379.

Sept. 17-23 commemorates the signing of the Constitution of the United States of America, which occurred 228 years ago.
The River City Chapter , Daughters of the American Revolution would like to invite the public to go to the Millington Library on Sept. 17 between 10 a.m. and noon, and the Covington Library between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to view the displays and meet members of the River City Chapter and help celebrate the birthday of the Constitution.
