As most of you know, our daughter Cassy was diagnosed with Glioblastoma stage IV on September 7, 2014. Cancer is a terrible disease, it not only affects the patient, but the entire family. I can go on for hours about the negativity of cancer, but we have learned to look at the positive. One major positive that came from this cancer journey was the opportunity we had to meet the wonderful people of Make-a-Wish Mid-South. On May 13, 2015, with the help of Brighton Elementary, Make-a-wish granted Cassy her wish: an Alaskan Cruise. This moment was so special for our family, filled with tears of happiness. You see, we almost lost Cassy 8 months earlier when her tumor hemorrhaged and her body was trying to go into a coma. This wish was truly a dream come true. Make-a-wish thought of every detail, from luggage, transportation, hotel, cruise line etc. We had no expense, Make-a-wish took care of everything so that all we could do was enjoy our trip of a lifetime. The best part of the trip was that Cassy was able to forget about cancer even it was just for a few days. She didn’t have to worry about treatments, procedures, scans, or clinic visits, she could just be a normal teenager. Pictures cannot capture all the beauty we saw in Alaska. We were able to make memories together as a family that we will cherish forever. This wish experience has inspired our family to do the same for others. We want to give other families the opportunity to make lasting memories with their loved ones. Please help our family raise money for make a wish by donating to our fundraising page.
