Star Staff Reports
Playhouse 51 in Millington announces its next production, Catch Me If You Can by Robert Thomas. Performances are March 4, 5, 11, and 12 at 7:30 p.m. and March 6 and 13 at 2 p. m. in Harvell Civic Center, located at 8077 Wilkinsville Road.
This Catch Me If You Can is not the same as the movie with that title but it’s every bit as much, if not more, fun what with all the twists, turns, red herrings, and the surprise ending. Such a surprise that, in the tradition of Agatha Christie, the audience will be asked not to reveal the ending outside the theatre so as not to spoil it for anyone else.
In this hilarious mystery comedy Daniel Corban and his new bride Elizabeth are honeymooning in his boss’s summer home in the Catskills when she suddenly disappears. Enter local Inspector Levin who seems more interested in his sandwich than in finding the missing Mrs. Corban. Then, a Priest shows up bringing Elizabeth with him and she asks Daniel’s forgiveness. The problem is — Daniel swears she’s not his wife, that he’s never seen this woman in his life! Soon there’s a murder, then another, and before long Daniel is drowning in suspicions when all he ever wanted was his wife back.
Catch Me If You Can is a cheerful, unpredictable game of homicide and who dunnit that will keep you guessing until the very end. Director Paul Webb says: “The last 15 minutes alone are worth the price of the ticket.” Come see if you can figure out what is going on and just who Inspector Levin needs to catch – – when he finishes his sandwich, of course. But, please, don’t reveal the ending.
