None of the members were overcome with jealousy, but several were wearing green in recognition of St. Patrick’s Day. The members enjoyed authentic Irish dishes like corn beef and cabbage, Irish soda bread and Irish potatoes. Also on the menu were desserts, green fruit and traditional Southern cuisine. Several members unofficially voted Mary Nicholson (right) as the Best Dressed with her oversized leprechaun hat and green beard. Nicholson is one of 80 members in the Millington Senior Citizens’ Club. The Club meets weekly from 9 a.m. to noon at Baker with lunch served at 11:30.
Anyone more than 50 years old is welcomed to visit and have their first meal free. To become a member, it is a $5 annual fee and $10 monthly or bring a dish for the pot luck. The Millington Senior Citizens’ Club also takes trips and participate in activities. For more information, contact MSCC president Marilyn Johnson at 643-4484.
