The Munford Cougars set out to prove their hot start to the 2016 season was legit last week. Head Coach Jake Garbuzinski’s crew had the task of taking on District 13-3A foe and defending league champ the Dyer County Choctaws in a pair of games. Then in the middle of the week, the Cougars would face one of the best Class 3A teams in Tennessee Arlington. On April 4 the Cougars welcomed the Choctaws for the first of two district showdowns. Dyer County took advantage of Munford miscues early to but a 6-0 lead by the third inning. The Choctaws prevailed 6-0 to drop the Cougars to 10-2 on the season. The following night Munford traveled to Dyer County for the rematch. In a 13 inning battle the Cougars emerged the victors 9-5. Munford scored 4 runs in the 13th inning. On the night Cougar Steven Kendrick crushed his fifth home run of the season. With little time to rest, Munford traveled to the Arlington Tigers Wednesday night. In another extra inning thriller, the Cougars were edged 3-2 by the Tigers.
