This afternoon, Garner was joined by her parents Glen and Brenda, family, friends, administrators and coaches in the MCHS Library for her signing ceremony.
Lady Trojans Head Coach Bruce Marshall was in attendance long side Garner’s future coach Andrea Martre.
For 20 seasons, Martre has led the Lady Saluqis to more than 300 victories and guided numerous players to the next level including the WNBA’s Ashley Shields.
Some of Marte’s other notable players over the years were All-Americans Myquita Mackey, Amie Williams, Ashley Shields, Candace Rucker, Starkitsha Luellen, and Kiana James; Academic All-American Torre Thomas and Lady Trojan great Michelle Malone.
Garner joins the list of Millington Lady Trojans to reach the next level like Malone. With her older brother Tyrell, a Millington Football standout, attending the school in the late 2000s, Glenda watched Lady Trojans greats on the hardwood.
She was motivated to join the list of LaTesa McLaughlin, Jasmine Newsome and Tiara Caldwell. Garner was a four-year letterman for Millington and named All-District in Class 3A and 2A during her time in the black and gold.
She led the team in scoring and was one of the top rebounders for the Lady Trojans the past two seasons.
Garner was on the radar of a few Division I schools, but she elected to play for Marte to develop her game instead of red-shirting.
