April 21
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 1382 meeting will be held at noon Thursday at the Baker Community Center (Oak Room), 7942 Church Street in Millington. Bringing a bag lunch is approved.  For more information, call Carolyn Cribbis at 413-7123.

April 23
The River City Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is hosting a prospective members workshop on Saturday, April 30 at the Tipton County Public Library, 3149 Highway 51 South in Covington.
The workshop is free to those women 18 years of age or older who are interested in learning about the work of the DAR and about the application process to become a member. As seating is limited , attendance is by reservation only with a deadline of April 23. To reserve a seat, contact River City Chapter at or 440-9585.  Registration check in on the day of the workshop begins a 9:30 a.m.

April 23
The Millington Crisis Center and St. William Catholic Church are joining forces to raise money for the Crisis Center and the church. The Ninth Annual Chinese Auction will be held on Saturday April 23 at 5:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center at St. Williams located at 8027 West Street in Millington. The Auction will be preceded by a spaghetti dinner cooked by the Knights of Columbus. Price of the dinner is $10 a person and includes 20 tickets for the Chinese Auction. Bidders win by placing their numbered tickets in the container in front of the item they wish to bid on.  As tickets are drawn the number of the willing ticket is called and that person claims the item. This is a fun evening and everyone in the community is invited. Advance tickets are available at the church office or by contacting Bitha Luze at 872-3635 or Shirley Maes at 647-6111. Additional auction tickets can be purchased the night of the auction.

April 30
St. James CME Church will host a car wash Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Curtis Tire & Auto Service located at 4700 Navy Road in Millington.

The Ministerial Oridantion of Cheryl Lovin Bone will be held April 30 at 3 p.m. with a reception to follow at the Millington Farmers Market located at 5152 Easley Street in Millington. To RSVP or for more information, contact Bone at 626-2092 or e-mail or Malina Bone at

May 7-8
The Turtle Island Native American Association will present the 11th Annual Turtle Island Powwow May 7-8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at USA Stadium.
This year’s special guest will be John T. Wayne. The author of numerous books on the Civil War and Old West is the grandson of the “Duke” John Wayne.
The younger Wayne’s books focuses on orphans that grew up to become the cowboys most Americans know like Judge Isaac Parker, Wyatt Earp, Wild Bill and Nat Love. There are admission fees with Military in uniform free. Concessions will be available. For more information, call 876-4015.

May 16
Health Department Director Dr. Alisa Haushalter will be the guest speaker to grant the Jones-Phillips Civic Club information on the Zika Virus. The Club’s personal business meeting will be 5:30- 6:15 p.m. Invite your friends and neighbors of this meeting. The meeting is scheduled for May 15 at Bethlehem Baptist Church located at 8808 Bethuel Road in  Millington. For more information, call 831-8139.

May 21
There will be a gospel concert by The Road to Emmaus Quartet at West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 3099 West Union Road, in Millington on May 21 at 6 p.m. followed by a potluck dinner. A love offering will be taken for The Road to Emmaus Quartet. Come hear the gospel music and bring your best potluck dish.  For more information call Debbie at 876-5757.

May 28
The Youth Spaghetti Dinner and Auction will be on May 28.  The meal starts at 5 p.m. and the auction at 6 p.m.  If you have any items to donate, contact Diana Meinweiser at 835-3352 or Brother Jim at 481-5757.  The dinner and auction will be held in the Family Living Center at West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 3999 West Union Road in Millington.
