UPDATE: Future could hold dual roles in Millington for Graves

Star Staff Reports

Earlier this week Millington Police Chief Arthur Heun informed his staff and personnel he will be stepping down this Friday.

On Wednesday, Millington City Manager Ed Haley announced a plan for current Millington Fire Chief Gary Graves to head both the fire and police departments.

Heun’s resignation letter read, “While my time here has been short, it is time for my tenure with the Millington Police Department to end. I have enjoyed getting to know all of you and wish you the best. Thanks for all you have done to make my time here a pleasure. Friday the 6th will be my last day. Art”

With Heun stepping down, the city is in search for its third police chief since last summer. Heun was named chief last September replacing Frank Tennant.

Tennant resigned after $12,000 came up missing from the evidence room at the Millington Police Department.
According to reports, veteran law enforcer Heun is stepping down because of restructuring. One plan moving forward is having Graves handle both post as chief in Millington.

Graves has been Millington fire chief since 2009.
