Bryan College Head Coach Don Rekoske made the trip from Dayton to Munford for two special reasons.
In the Munford Gymnasium, Rekoske brought a pair of letters of intent for graduating seniors Queyon Mills and Alex Jones. Rekoske snatched up a point guard in Mills and a combo guard in Jones.
The duo became Ryan Ross’ first signees as Munford head coach. Ross took over the Cougar program last summer and entrusted seniors like Mills and Jones with the transition process.
“I’m extremely thankful for them and the leadership they brought,” Ross said. “They really started the culture buy-in that we have with the guys. If it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have had it. It starts with your senior leaders. If they don’t buy in, nobody buys in.”
Ross describes Mills as a true point guard who can get other players involved while hitting a consistent shot. Then the Coach noted Jones has only touch on his potential has a shooting guard/small forward type.
Rekoske said both players have a chance to be starters in his program in the near future. The veteran coach has been with Bryan College for 12 years and almost 30 years of college coaching experience.
