The Class of 2016 celebrated high achievers, their success over the past 4 years and survivors like Tyeisha Smith. The candidates for graduates marched into the stadium to Pomp and Circumstances played by the award-winning Munford Band under the direction of Barry Trobaugh.
After a song by the Munford High School Advanced Choir, directed by Doug Young, Student Council President Stanley Castellaw welcomed all the family and friends in attendance.
Then it was time for the top 3 students to speak to the large gathering with Historian Andrew Kurtzman, Salutatorian Emily Montgomery and Valedictorian Erin Detter.
Before the graduates walked across the stage to receive their diplomas from Tipton County Director of Schools Dr. William Bibb, Munford Principal Dr. Courtney Fell and assistant principals Octavia Crawford, Darren Walker, Mike Huffman and Dr. Sharon Ivie.
Ivie announced to the crowd the Class of 2016 members who will be joining the armed services. And she also recognize the 179 seniors earning a scholarship totaling a new school record of $9,281,759.
