Cal Exchange Club Abel honor Cal Exchange Club MCHS honors 5-12The Millington Exchange Club presented a plaque and check for $100 to Millington Central High School senior Abel Velasquez, also a check for $50 to runner up senior, Jessica Tackett. Abel was the first place winner for the essay contest for our annual Ace Award  (accepting the challenge of excellence) contest that gets submitted to National for a chance to win even more funds for college.etc. Club member Leanna Dagen presented the honors.

-Soul Out Ministries’ nutritional meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center at 7942 Church Street from noon to 1 p.m. The program is a local non-profit organization, tax deductible. -The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

-The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

-The Millington Optimist Club meets at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Thursday of the month at Old Timers located at 7918 C Street. For more information, call David Adams at 581-4886.

June 5
The Youth Spaghetti Dinner and Auction will be on June 5.  The meal starts immediately after church and the silent auction will follow. Also, the drawing for the Barbecue cooker will be held.  If you have any items to donate, contact Diana Meinweiser at 835-3352 or Brother Jim at 481-5757.  The dinner and auction will be held in the Family Living Center at West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 3999 West Union Road, Millington, TN  38053.

June 7
The Millington Area Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating the city of Millington Fire and Police Departments Personnel
Tuesday, from  11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Millington Farmers’ Market located at 5152 Easley Street.

June 11
On behalf of Millington Trojan Football Head Coach Chris Michael and the entire Trojan Football Program, you are invited to participate in the annual Trojan Football Classic Golf Scramble. This year’s 4-man Scramble will be held on Saturday, June 11 at Glen Eagle Golf Course.
All of the proceeds will go towards the Trojan Football program and helps us keep down costs to the players, parents, coaches, and the School.

June 11
Local NFL player Greg Hardy will host the Fifth Annual Football & Cheer Camp June 11. The event is hosted by Briarcrest and Ole Miss Alum and NFL Player Greg Hardy (Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys) and the I Go Hard-Y Camps staff.  The event is scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m. for grades first to 12th for football and grades first to fifth for cheer camp. The venue will be USA Stadium in Millington.

Summer 2016
Munford Baptist Church located at 1253 Munford Ave., will host 2016 “Cave Quest”  Vacation Bible School from June 19-24 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. for kindergarten to fifth grade students. For more information, call 837-6325.

June 15-18
Upper Canaan Missionary Baptist Church Family  (located at 9090 Highway 51 North in Millington)  is inviting the community to share in their Vacation Bible School held June 15-17, 2016 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The theme is: ‘The Ultimate Climb-Hiking Up to Meet God”. There will be classes for all age levels taught by qualified born again teachers. The Vacation Bible School culminating activities will be Saturday, June 18. The activities entail a  Back to School Rally from 11-3 p.m. School supplies will be given to all school-aged VBS participants and a motivational speaker will highlight  positive self- esteem and bullying.  It will also feature a Game Truck, Moon Bounce, and picnic.
A Clothes-give -away will also take place from 9 a.m. to noon There will be an abundance of items for everyone who stops by to shop.
