Cal Exchange Club American Flag honor 6-2The Millington Exchange Club awarded Applebee’s of Millington, the quarterly, So Proudly we Hail plaque for proper flying of the American Flag. Leanna Dagen (member presented the award to Applebee’s Manager, Jessica Dunlavey.

-Soul Out Ministries’ nutritional meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center at 7942 Church Street from noon to 1 p.m. The program is a local non-profit organization, tax deductible. -The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

-The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

-The Millington Optimist Club meets at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Thursday of the month at Old Timers located at 7918 C Street. For more information, call David Adams at 581-4886.

Summer 2016
Munford Baptist Church located at 1253 Munford Ave., will host 2016 “Cave Quest”  Vacation Bible School from June 19-24 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. for kindergarten to fifth grade students. For more information, call 837-6325.

June 13-17
Millington First United Methodist Church located at 8029 Wilkinsville Road in Millington is hosting the  Barnyard Roundup Vacation Bible School, June 13-17 from 6-8 p.m.
There will be a mobile petting zoo from Happy Times Farm here on Friday, June 17 around 6:15 after the kids receive their certificate of completion. For more information, call 872-4414.

June 15-18
Upper Canaan Missionary Baptist Church Family  (located at 9090 Highway 51 North in Millington)  is inviting the community to share in their Vacation Bible School held June 15-17, 2016 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The theme is: ‘The Ultimate Climb-Hiking Up to Meet God”. There will be classes for all age levels taught by qualified born again teachers. The Vacation Bible School culminating activities will be Saturday, June 18. The activities entail a  Back to School Rally from 11-3 p.m. School supplies will be given to all school-aged VBS participants and a motivational speaker will highlight  positive self- esteem and bullying.  It will also feature a Game Truck, Moon Bounce, and picnic.
A Clothes-give -away will also take place from 9 a.m. to noon There will be an abundance of items for everyone who stops by to shop.

June 25
Upper Canaan Missionary Baptist Church Choir ( located at 9090 Highway 51 North, Millington, TN)  is inviting the community to share in their Gospel Explosion  Saturday, June 25, at 2 p.m. Anointed voices of choirs of Promiseland, Jones Grove  and Smith Grove M.B. Churches  will be singing like the angels. Several noted soloists will be rendering songs of praise unto the Lord. There is no better way to spend a leisure Saturday afternoon than in the House of the Lord having hallelujah good time enjoying Gospel music. July 2
The 2016 Flag City Freedom Celebration is scheduled for July 2 at Navy Lake. This event is brought to you play Naval Support Activity Mid-South and the city of Millington. Gates open at 4 p.m. The Freedom Celebration will include a fireworks show and there will be a children’s play area. Bring your picnic basket, blankets, coolers and lawn chairs. Food and concessions will be available. Alcohol will be sold. No pets, no fireworks or no open fires (also no grills, tents, soliciting or political campaigning). The gate fee is $5 per vehicle. Arts & Rec
The Beginning of Summer Bash will be held at USA Stadium from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 14. Join Millington Arts, Recreation, and Parks to kick off the beginning of Summer with the Beginning of Summer Bash. This event is free to the community to come out and enjoy everything we have to offer. The Memphis Game Truck is coming out to USA Stadium to set up for outdoor laser tag, bubble soccer, and many other games. The Variety Club is coming out to provide free food for the event. Take Off Pounds Sensibly – A self help weight loss group that meets every Friday, working together through meetings, projects, and games to achieve weight loss goals. For more information, 873-5770.

June 29
Come out and join us for free dance lessons on Wednesday nights 7:30-9 p.m. at the Baker Community Center. This is for ages 10 and older. Learn multiple styles of dance from West Coast Swing to Line Dancing! Parents are welcome to come and join in on the classes. Ages 15 and younger need to be accompanied by an adult. The dance lessons will be followed by a Dance Night on the last Friday of each month costing a fee. For more information, 873-5770.

June 22 & 29
Chair Volleyball will be held at the Baker Community Center Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. Come join the Arts, Recreation, and Parks for a game of chair volleyball! Chair volleyball is a sport geared towards the senior community. The participant must remain seated throughout the course of the game and the ball is a beach ball which allows everyone to be able to play. All other rules apply to the standard volleyball rules. At The Farmers’ Market
June 18
Come join the city of Millington at the Millington Farmers’ Market to make bottle cap fishing lures from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday June 18. For more information, call 873-5770.

June 25
Come join the city of Millington at the Millington Farmers market on June 25 to hear the Brian Callies Band play from 9 to 11 a.m. Also that day, there will be a Homemade Pie Contest. For more information, call 873-5770.

NHECM provides entertaining and educational wildlife programming for hundreds of schools and organizations throughout the Southeast.
