*The American Legion and Auxiliary holds monthly meetings at the Baker Center starting at 7 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month. On the first Saturday of the summer months the Auxiliary have been at the Farmers Market informing the community about our projects/programs that help our Veterans. For more information, email

*Soul Out Ministries’ nutritional meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center at 7942 Church Street from noon to 1 p.m. The program is a local non-profit organization, tax deductible. *The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

*The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

*The Millington Optimist Club meets at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Thursday of the month at Old Timers located at 7918 C Street. For more information, call David Adams at 581-4886.

*The EA chapter is here in Millington. Emotions Anonymous International. Emotions Anonymous (EA) exists to support individuals with emotional difficulties in their efforts to live a more manageable life by using the Emotions Anonymous Program of recovery. The state of Tennessee’s annual sales tax holiday is held every year, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on the last Friday in July and ending at 11:59 p.m. the following Sunday night. During this weekend, certain goods may be purchased tax free. This year’s tax-free holiday weekend begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 29 and ends Sunday, July 31 at 11:59 p.m. In years past, the “tax-free holiday” took place during the first weekend of August.

The American Legion Post 252 will be collecting unserviceable flags and school supplies for Millington Municipal School students July 30 at the Millington Farmers Market. For more information, email

Aug. 7
Blessing of the Back Packs! West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church is sending the West Union students and educators back to school with its prayers and blessings. The church will have a time of prayer during worship service on Aug. 7.  Students and educators are encouraged to bring their backpacks and briefcases to the service to be blessed. Aug. 7
Residents of Millington & the surrounding community are invited to a gathering on Sunday, Aug. 7 at Living Water Christian Bookstore on Navy Road. Come enjoy free food provided by Unity Baptist Church and “shop” for clothes, household goods, and other miscellaneous items. All items are free of charge and will be available on a first come, first served basis. The event is scheduled for Sunday from 2:30 to 5 p.m., at Living Water Christian Bookstore located at 4952 Navy Road in Millington.
Aug. 27
The Mid-South Camaro Club “Riding For a Cause” presents the Riverfront Car Show at Tom Lee Park Saturday in Memphis. The event will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a fee. All cars are welcome and for more information, call Lisa McPherson at 334-8805. Proceeds will benefit The Wings Foundation. Visit

Aug. 9
The Millington Municipal Schools invites the public out to a Community Celebration and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the reopening of the Millington Central High School Annex located at 8050 West Street in Millington. The event will be Aug. 9 from 3 to 6 p.m. For more information, call 873-5680.
Munford Parks and Recreation
Opens Registration for Fall Sports
Munford Parks and Recreation has open registration for fall sports. Fall Soccer registration were held through July 22 for youth ages 3-17 but there is still a chance online.  There is a fee which includes the player’s jersey and socks.  Practices will be held Monday through Friday at Valentine Park and start the week of Aug. 15.  Games begin Sept. 10 and run through Nov. 5.  Registration can be made in the office located at 63 College Street, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or online at  Registrations made between July 25 and 31 will be accessed a $10 late fee.  For more information, call Dorothy at Munford Park and Rec at 837-5965 or e-mail

SNAG (Special Needs Athletic Group) baseball registration is open now through Aug. 14.  SNAG is open to any child ages 5-18 with a physical disability, behavioral disorder, or developmental delay that makes it difficult for them to play in other sports leagues.  Games are held on Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. beginning on Sept. 6 and end on Oct. 25.  There is a fee, which included a uniform shirt, hat and end-of-year trophy.
Volunteers – youth ages 12 and older and adults are also needed for SNAG as each player has a buddy.  It’s an hour and half long weekly commitment.  Contact Cori Yarbrough at 837-5965 or with all of your questions.  Registration can be made in the office located at 63 College Street, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or on-line at
