Carson finishes on target

The veteran clay shooter and 2016 Munford High School graduate was part of a four-way tie with the score of 197 in the Scholastic Clay Target Program’s National Championships.
The defending Rudy Cup champion retained his title outlasting the competition in the tie-breaker round. Carson ended his career as a two-time Rudy Cup winner, for the best shooter in the Volunteer State.
Last year Carson won the Rudy Cup with a perfect score of 200. Two years prior to that victory, Carson came up short of his first Rudy Cup losing in a tie-breaker in 2013.
Carson earned a spot in the 2016 All-State Team and medalist. His Tennessee teammate Jacob Tyler was also a medalist. Tyler is a freshman at Arlington High School.
Carson has been a member of the T-County Clay Busters, featuring dozens of shooters.
T-County Clay Busters are part of the University of Tennessee’s 4-H Shooting Sports Program. The program is open to all Tipton county youth from the fifth grade and up.

Carson is the son of Angie and Dennis Carson and grandson of Janice and Doug Laird and Charlotte and Johnny Carson.
