Brighton’s Aubree Jones inked her national letter of intent to play golf at Mississippi State University this morning in the Brighton High School Library. Jones has finished as the runner up in the Class 3A State Golf Tournament past two years.
In her freshman and sophomore campaigns, Jones brought home the championship. She will not only go down as the 2013 and 2014 State champion, but Jones has countless other titles, medals and honors from her days on the links.
Jones was joined by her parents Russ and Melissa Jones, BHS Golf Coach Kim Greer, teammates, friends, family and long-time swing coach Ted Butler for the signing to the SEC school.
The Lady Bulldogs are led by Head Coach Ginger Brown. Jones said she was impressed by Brown, the program and facilities. Mississippi State beat out other Southeastern Conference schools Auburn, Arkansas and Tennessee for Jones.
“Down in Starkville just feels like home,” Jones said. “Every time I go down there I just get this feeling of I’m so ready to be down here. It’s just a feeling I didn’t get from any of the other schools. It’s just so awesome.”
