My girls had nothing short of an incredible season! I hate the way it had to come to an end especially for our seniors. These girls deserved a better result than what we got vs. Arlington but that’s the way it goes sometimes. We felt good about our chances going into the Region Semifinals and it showed early on. I believe we had two or three shots on goal in the first 15 minutes which was more than the previous meeting at Arlington. Mind you we dropped that one 2-0. We had a very unlucky injury happen to our senior captain Kasey Moore at about the 20-minute mark. She was tackled from the side and injured her knee and was not able to come back into the game. Losing a key player to our team like Moore hurt more than we would have liked. Up until that point it was back and forth. We held Arlington until the last 10 minutes of the first half before they found the back of the net. Due to silly mistakes we went down 2-0 at half. Same score as last meeting at this point but we could not get our minds and emotions in the right place to dig out of that hole Dropping 5-0 is not what we imagined the Region Semifinals would be. Give credit to a very talented Arlington team who almost beat (No. 5 in the nation) Houston to get to State. This was a very special year for my girls and they broke a lot of records and set new standards for our program. I am forever grateful to these girls for raising the bar and making our name known. Munford Soccer is now a name that people know about and do not take lightly anymore. Words can’t describe how proud I am of my girls. The type of season we had will be very tough to match but I can tell you, my girls will do everything they can to beat it in 2017.
