Kendrick will also participate in Homeruns that Help during the Power Showcase Home Run Derby by collecting donations for much needed funding to enhance research efforts of juvenile diabetes for every home run he hits. Through the Homeruns that Help program Steven is showing support for his sister, Shelby Lynn, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on June 22, 2013 at the age of 10.
“Steven is a very well rounded player that can play anywhere on the field defensively, is aggressive on the bases with above average speed, has a high baseball IQ, can hit for average, and has tremendous power for a high school hitter. He led Class AAA in the state of Tennessee with 13 regular season homeruns as a sophomore. He was also named District 13 AAA MVP and All-Tournament Team. Off the field Steven holds down a 3.25 gpa and is a member of the Future Farmers of America at Munford. He holds to the values of our community and our program. He is a talented kid and a pleasure to coach,” said James Yount, Head Baseball Coach, Munford High School.
The Power Showcase Home Run Derby will feature top underclassmen amateur power hitting prospects from around the country and the West during the All-American Game. The game highlights the five-day, all-encompassing educational experience staffed by some of the very best players and coaches, including a MLB Scout Day in front of all thirty organizations, a welcome dinner/ jersey presentation ceremony, the home run derby itself, and two mental strength sessions.
The 11th Annual World POWER SHOWCASE is being held in Miami at Marlins Park December 27-31. The event features the most prolific amateur players from around the world and provides the perfect center-stage opportunity in which to demonstrate their skill-sets in front of baseball’s top evaluators during a live world-wide broadcast.
