By Thomas Sellers Jr.

Tyler Cody SigningToday Munford Head Football Coach Nick Markle and the program celebrated National Signing Day with Tyler Cody inking his letter of intent to UT-Martin.

The Cougars’ senior center has been a three-year starter. As the focal point of the line, Cody helped the Munford running attack achieve a 20-12 record the past three years.

During that stretch, Cody created running lanes for players like David Simon, Chaz Hayes, Jacob Ross, Anthony Boley, Wilson Lowry and more.

The powerful lineman was joined by his brother Justin and parents Lee and Carrie for the signing ceremony. Tyler started playing football at the age of 6.

He received his chance to play varsity football as a sophomore when Munford’s starting center went down with an ACL injury. Cody made the most of his opportunity. His solid play and command of the offense earned Cody the starting spot for the rest of the 2014 campaign and the next two seasons.

Now Cody will join Skyhawks Head Coach Jason Simpson in Martin. The Skyhawks were 7-5 in 2016.

Meanwhile the Cougars finished 5-5 this past season. Cody helped Munford reach the playoffs twice during his prep career.
