Hopping Into Business: Little Robert’s Rabbits launches, looking to give back to Food Bank

By Thomas Sellers Jr.
Rabbit Farm Family 10-5The word is getting out about Little Robert’s Rabbits.
The residents of Millington and surrounding areas are learning about the rabbit-raising meat production farm named after the youngest son of Brad Smith.
And owner Smith is trying to make a splash and impact with his new business by donating 10 percent of all harvested meat to local food banks as well as 10 percent of any net revenue.
“Little Robert’s Rabbits is a brand new opportunity we started to take advantage of our location and rabbits’ ability to multiply,” Smith said. “I have a desire to help others as well.  The rabbit business is a great side business that lets me teach my kids important lessons about the value of work, working together as a family, and providing meat for disadvantaged people.
“We moved back last year and very happy to be home,” he continued. “The fundraising campaign is hosted by www.Barnraiser.us.  Anyone interested in helping to get this venture established can visit barnraiser.us, enter Little Robert’s Rabbits and click the button to make a pledge.”
Smith, a native of Millington, graduated from Millington Central High School in 1992. Then he moved to Florida where he met his wife Brandy. They have three sons and a daughter Hunter, Noah, Robert and Ava.
“I have enjoyed a successful career path in aviation, but have a passion for running my own business,” Smith said. “I have had success with ventures in the past such as a mobile oil change service, aircraft detailing company, and a foreclosure maintenance business.”
Now Smith is ready to run Little Robert’s Rabbits and have a chance to give back to the community he grew up.
“The money will be used to purchase shelter, cages, and initial stock,” Smith concluded. “We have the land, labor, and desire. Once operating, a portion of all harvested meat is to be donated to food banks in Shelby and Tipton counties.”
The precepts of the business include teaching Smith’s children responsibility and helping to feed others. The fund raising campaign listed at www.Barnraiser.us The campaign will be activated  and run for 30 days only.
