But Santa was still going to make his annual appearance prior to Christmas in the city of Millington. On Saturday, the Man from the North Pole was joined by the Mrs. for the Flag City tradition of the annual Christmas Parade.
Santa and Mrs. Claus concluded the hour-long showcase down Navy Road concluding at Leroy Boatwright Street. The Millington Central High School NJROTC and the sirens of Millington Police Department Inspector Reggie Fields got things started.
Hundreds lined the street with parents watching their children be entertained and grab handfuls of candy. Some of the faces in the crowd were Cashlyn Materna, who will turn 3 years old the day after Christmas.
Sisters Kassidy, 6, and Cayla Smith, 4, were anticipating the sights and sounds of a Millington Christmas. Nearby those girls were Latesha Morris with her daughters Leeiah, 3, and Jalesah, 1.
Some children in attendance came dressed for the day like 9-year-old Sariah Hill from Northaven Elementary with deer antlers. Across the street in front of Millington Oaks was the trio of Abigail, Elijah and Lyla Ledlow. The children ended the day sharing candy under their mother’s watchful eyes.
One child not worried about gathering candy, at least for now, was 4-month-old Paisley Hubbard. Her mother wanted her to feel the spirit of Christmas by coming out in the ideal conditions.
While the youth enjoyed the day, the young at heart like Millington couple Amanda and Marcus Saulsberry grabbed  some candy and cheers for the floats heading down the street.
