Millington ‘Grinch’ arrested in church toy theft

On Nov. 19, Millington Police Department officers responded to a burglary at First United Methodist Church located at 8029 Wilkinsville Road in Millington.

Among items taken during the burglary were donated Christmas presents. MPD officers were able to identify the suspect in the burglary as 46-year-old Willie Taylor.

Taylor is described as a male black, 6-feet tall and 200 pounds.

Once the video surfaced to the public and online, Taylor was identified as “The Grinch” who stole Christmas in Millington. Taylor is accused of stealing every present from the First United Methodist Church toy collection for local children in need.

FUMC Senior Pastor Ronnie Peck said the theft totaled to about $500 worth of toys that were donated for Real Foot Rural Ministry toy store in Obion.

Last year the toy store helped about 500 families and gave 1,300 children presents.
