A 32-year-old man was convicted Thursday of first-degree murder in the shooting death two years ago of a colleague at their workplace in the Raleigh area, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
The Criminal Court jury took just 30 minutes to return its verdict against defendant Ronald Taylor. He was automatically sentenced to life in prison by Judge Bobby Carter.
The victim, Travis Brandt, 45, of Millington, died of multiple gunshot wounds he sustained as he sat at his desk at Plasma Biological Services just off of Covington Pike south of Raleigh LaGrange Road. The shooting occurred around 2:30 in the afternoon on March 17, 2017.
