Apologizing to Jack Jr., the legacy of the first three Dwyer children born to parents Jack and Mckenzie will have a sweet reminder.
The duo of King and Kenneth and their sister Charlotte were the inspiration for the name for the 2026 The Millington Star Readers’ Choice Business of the Year.
2KC Cookie Co., bursted on the scene in late 2024 and used a combination of savory oversized cookies and local vending to rack up satisfied customers and votes.
The Dwyer children might be the reason for the unique name of the business located at 7969 B. Street, but Jack’s bride gave the blueprint for the family-owned operation.
“2KC was built through my wife going to different coffee shops studying for med school,” Jack recalled. “We have a bunch of kids. So we initially built it as a great place to come and hang out. There’s even a kids’ play room right next to the sitting that will keep your kids busy as you eat.
“We started originally making custom royal icing sugar cookies,” he continued. “Then we moved into the oversized cookies with that 2KC shape. If you want to know what to come for, you come for coffee, cookies. We have about 35 different flavors that rotate on a daily basis.”
The success of ‘The Original Seven’ (Lemon Poppy, Blue Velvet, Peanut Butter/Dark Chocolate (with sea salt), Lemon Blueberry, Triple Chocolate Espresso, Oatmeal Cream Duo and Pixie-Sugar Cookie) led to the August 9, 2025 opening of a second 2KC Cookie Co., in Brighton located at 89 N. Main Street.
“What 2KC does is the 35 flavors rotating daily,” Jack said. “We have partnered with various vendors. Kind of our niche we like to deal with veteran owned or locally owned. Even our coffee is from a company from Bonefrog who is a retired Navy Seal.”
Both Dwyers have served in the U.S. Navy and Jack made the decision to pursue his passion of baking his unique style of cookies. On August 9, 2024, Jack and Mckenzie opened the doors to 2KC Cookie Co. after several weeks of preparation.

Jack threw out many recipes that didn’t meet his standard to find the perfect texture, flavor balance and size of cookie.
“It’s been going really well,” he noted. “We’ve just opened a second location in Brighton. It’s not too far up the road. It’s all been going really good and we love Millington.
“We have cookie flavors for every season,” he added. “When you get into the fall and winter, you’ll see more pecan pie and those types of flavors. When you get into the summer, you will have your lemon poppy seeds and your lemon blueberry. We have seasonal flavors we like to promote.”
Even the staff is getting in on the fun by creating additional flavors.
“I’ve developed every recipe in the house,” Jack said. “Just recently we had our staff for the first time create three of the new cookie items — the strawberry wafer, the banana pudding cookies. The based recipes were mine but the actual making and designing of it was from our staff.
Targeting locations that are surrounded by neighborhoods, the Dwyers said 2KC Cookie Co. is an ideal setting for families.
“We wanted a cafe vibe,” Jack explained. “A lot of the chain coffee restaurants have more milk and sweeter coffees. We like to work with people who like to taste their coffee. The ratio is a little different.
“There’s no automatic machines,” he added. “They’re all calibrated by the team here. So it’s exactly what you’ll expect from a quality espresso place.”
From signature coffee, exclusive cookies, and family atmosphere, Jack said 2KC Cookie Co.’s business motto is gaining traction.
“It’s a blessing to be voted Business of the Year and I really appreciate it,” he concluded. “We really love Millington and the people here. We really, really enjoy being here. The feeling is mutual.
