The Lighting of the Rosemark Christmas Tree has been a tradition since the 1930’s. The planting of a new tree took place in the early 1990’s, which triggered a renewed vigor and excitement with the local participants. The 30-foot tree at the corner of Kerr-Rosemark Road and Rosemark Road was officially lit on Sunday evening, Nov. 30 by Nolan Dillard, Julie Jones, Faith Moorlach, and Xara Moorlach. The large crowd of community supporters cheered, took pictures and enjoyed a time of fellowship. Cary E. Vaughn, First Vice President, Board of Directors of Historic Archives of Rosemark and Environs (H.A.R.E.) opened the program with a welcome and prayer. Judge Jon McCalla, President, Board of Directors of H.A.R.E. gave a brief overview of this annual event. In addition, he recognized and gave kudos to all core sponsors, such as Ritter Communications for the trimming and overall maintenance of the tree. Trip Jones, President of the Rosemark Civic Club explained the community partnerships like Patriot Bank (Title Sponsor) that aid in making the country fair and tree lighting possible. Pastor Kent Moorlach of Richland ARP Church gave an inspiring message, and he was instrumental in providing the church grounds and facilities for the service. Tipton-Rosemark Academy Senior Choir and other local churches ministered through song.
