A local veterans group announces plans for a golf tournament to help raise money for various local projects.

The Harry M. Crawford American Legion Post 252 of Millington announced plans for a golf tournament on Saturday, May 18 at the Edmund Orgill golf course in Millington.

“What we are trying to do is to capitalize on the success of our tournament last year,” said John Bandy, golf tournament director.

Bandy went on to say that, “we were able to send two boys to the American Legion Boys State in Cookeville this year and the funds we raised also went to sponsor girls’ intramural softball team in Millington.”

“The tournament coincidentally is being held on Armed Forces Day and open to all golfers from pro down to duffers. Players only pay $100 per golfer and teams are encouraged,” said Del Turner co-tournament director. “Registration is open now but can be paid at the golf course at 7 a.m. on May 18. You can buy Milligan’s for only $5.00 each. We will have prizes for the longest drive, closest to the pin and individual team prizes in first through third place.”

“This is an opportunity to come out and experience a great day of golf in the Spring.” Said Thomas McGhee, Post Commander. “We are also looking for hole sponsors. Your business can sponsor a hole for $250.00.” McGhee added.

For more information you can call Thomas McGhee at 901-438-4274 or John B. Bandy 901-237-2592.
