Another Shocking Week

Following a week of devastation from the tornados was another even more shocking story.
This past week we experienced some things that may never be experienced again in our lifetimes.
The week after we left the Disneyworld area the theme parks shut down. Not only did Disneyworld close, but also other theme parks and even Legoland, a few miles south of Disney.
Rotary district 6760 cancelled its annual PETS conference in Chattanooga, the TSSAA stopped the state tournaments, schools closed for extended spring breaks, the NBA cancelled its season,
Tennessee postponed its spring football game, churches cancelled services and many turned to Facebook life where we turned in, supermarkets ran out of basic survival supplies as people started hoarding, gas prices dropped dramatically, and many other things happened that are too numerous to mention.
I never went through a plague, but this past week must be a close kin.
Cruise lines cancelled sailings, airline routes were less than full and the stock market saw its biggest swings since the Great Depression.
Retirement funds shrunk, although probably temporary and hopefully by the time this is read it will have rebounded nicely. Who knows?
Each day I thought that it was at the bottom the indices dropped another 1,000 points.
I can’t remember a crazier time than this. Schools cancelled spring sports which, in turn greatly affects our spring sports special sections.
Many school activities are affected, either being postponed or cancelled altogether. Colleges are also affected.
Who knows where this is all going? Will it get worse or better? And what will be the time frame?
Will it affect the national elections or the candidate selection process?
We welcome all input.
Stay tuned and read more local newspapers.
