Earlier this month some of the area’s best golfers took on the course at the WillowBrook Golf Club in Manchester.

The two-day event showcased the skills of Brighton golfers Logan Watkins, Carson McKinney, Brianna Donnell and Anna McIntyre. Munford was represented by Madison Willis, Lindsey Owen and Easton Lavelle. And Tipton-Rosemark Academy had a solid showing with senior Colton Hall.

Hall, a veteran of the State Tournament, finished seventh in the Division II-A tournament with a total of 153. Hall shot a 75 on day one and finished up with a 78 the second day. Grant Hirschman brought the title back to Shelby County. The St. George’s junior shot a 137 with a 67 on the second day.

In Division I-AAA, the five Tipton County female golfers posted solid scores with Munford senior Madison Willis leading the pack. The overall winner was Samantha Gotcher of Clarksville with a total of 141. Willis posted a 171 with her best round a 83. Her teammate Owen  shot 202 over two days. The sophomore finished strong on day two with a 94.

The three Brighton Lady Cardinals all stayed under 100 per round. McKinney had an 85 on the first day as part of her total of 180. Donnell finished with an 88 on the second day as part of her 183. Their teammate McIntyre had a solid showing to conclude her sophomore year with a 98 and 99.

In the boys Class 3A action, the two Tipton County golfers finished in the top 15. Stuart Thomas of Farragut was the winner with a 140, shooting 70s both days. Thomas beat Siegel’s Anjuna Anday and Dickson Clunty’s Ben Wolcott in a playoff to capture the championship.

Munford Cougar Easton Lavelle tried to make a rally with a 69 on the second day to finish with a total of 145. He took seventh overall in the tournament.  Just two shots behind Lavelle was Brighton’s Watkins. The junior posted a 147 with a 72 and 75.
