Area Naval Officer recognized with Gold Star

This is to certify that the Secretary of the Navy has awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star in lieu of the second award) to information systems technician Second Class (Information Warfare/Aviation Warfare) Darrien M. Stollings United States Navy for professional achievement while serving as combat system communications watch officer onboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) from December 2020 to May 2021. Petty Officer Stollings displayed inspirational leadership while leading 14 sailors in the execution of eight communications plans consisting of 416 voice circuits and 30 megabytes per second of internet protocol. 

He orchestrated 10 satellite cutovers, resulting in a 99 percent availability rate of internet protocol and communications resources. Additionally as departmental sponsorship coordinator, he tracked 24 prospective gains, ensuring 100 percent sponsor communication. 

His dedication, leadership, and technical expertise directly led to the successful completion of the 2021 Western Pacific deployment. Petty Officer Stollings’ exceptional professionalism, personal initiative and unswerving devotion to duty reflected credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
