Play ball at Millington Rec

Registration has started for our upcoming adult 3 on 3 basketball league with Millington Parks and Recreation. You can register until January 31 at www.millingtontn.gov. Cost is $250/team. There are four different leagues-men’s, women’s, co-ed and over 40 (men’s). Games will be on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday starting March 6. Each league will be designated for a specific night once we get the final number of teams registered. There will be a 10 game schedule with a single elimination tournament immediately following completion of the regular season.

Millington Senior Club

The Millington Senior Citizen’s Club is meeting again Wednesdays at 10 a.m. with entertainment weekly. The club meets at the Baker Community Center located at 7942 Church Street. For more information, call 873-5770. 

Work on Highway 78

SHELBY COUNTY, US-78 (SR-4) from Mississippi State Line to South of Shelby Drive (LM-1.48): Wednesday, January 18, 9 a.m. through Monday, February 20, 7 p.m.: Davidson Road (Old Hwy 78) at the intersection of SR 4 will be closed on the East side of SR 4 to allow for the reconstruction of SR 4 and Davidson Road. A detour will be in place to redirect traffic flow.

Senior Exercise

The senior exercise club meets Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Baker Community Center located at 7942 Church Street in Millington. For more information, call 873-5770. 

Charles-Bartlett to Quito roads closed until 2023

Shelby County officials announced in April an extensive road closure through next year for a drainage improvement project. Charles Bartlett Road between Quito Road and Oglesby Road will be closed starting May 2 through January 22, 2023. 

The county says the project requires installing a new concrete box culvert across Charles Bartlett Road. 

Charles Bartlett Road will be open to local traffic only from Quito Road and Oglesby Road.

Traffic Alert in Memphis until Fall 2023

SHELBY COUNTY, I-55/Crump:

November 2022 through Fall 2023:  Utilizing proposed crossovers, both northbound and southbound I-55 traffic will be traveling in one lane in each direction in the southbound I-55 lanes until Fall 2023.  

The ramp to continue onto southbound I-55 from the “Old Bridge” will remain reduced to one lane.  Northbound Riverside Drive will remain open.  Continuing demolition of both the Wisconsin Avenue bridge and the pedestrian bridge will occur along with other construction activities.  

A lane reduction to 11’ lanes will be in place and necessary detours will be posted.

The following closures will remain in place until Fall 2023:  Wisconsin Avenue, the northbound I-55 exit ramp to eastbound Crump Boulevard, the McLemore entrance ramp to northbound I-55, southbound Riverside Drive at Carolina Avenue including both the Channel 3 Drive entrance ramp from and exit ramp to southbound Riverside Drive, the northbound I-55 ramp and eastbound Crump Boulevard ramp from southbound Riverside Drive, the westbound Crump Boulevard to southbound I-55 ramp, the northbound I-55 inside lane from South Parkway to the northbound I-55 exit ramp.
