Senior Exercise

The senior exercise club meets Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Baker Community Center located at 7942 Church Street in Millington. For more information, call 873-5770. 

Millington Food Pantry

The Millington Food Pantry is located on the grounds of Millington First United Methodist Church at 8029 Wilkinsville Road, is available to qualified residents of 38053 living in Shelby County.  Hours of operation are each Tuesday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the third Saturday of each month 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Call 901-872-2771 to make an appointment.  Appointments are not made  in advance of the day the pantry is open.

Chamber Golf Tournament News

The 2023 Millington Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament is set for June 16 at Glen Eagle Golf Course located at 6168 Attu Street. Registration is at 11 a.m. with an 11:30 ball drop. The shotgun start is at noon. For more information or to sponsor a hole, call 872-1486.

Soul Out Ministries School Drive

Soul Out Ministries is giving away to grades third to seventh free school supplies which began March 20 at the Baker Community Center located at 7942 Church Street. The days it will be available are Monday 2 to 5 p.m., Tuesday 2 to 4 p.m. and Wednesday 2 to 5 p.m. Applications can be picked up and returned to Baker Community Center during normal business hours. The program will offer tutoring by retired teachers, educational games, arts, and crafts. Information for the free summer program will be provided before the end of the school year.

CBC Monthly Meeting

The Millington City Beautiful Commission meets monthly on the first Thursday of each month at the Millington IDB Building located at 7965 Veterans Parkway. The public is welcomed to attend. 

Senior Club

The Millington Senior Citizen’s Club is meeting again Wednesdays at 10 a.m. with entertainment weekly. The club meets at the Baker Community Center located at 7942 Church Street. For more information, call 873-5770. 

Health Fair

Harris Chapel Church of God in Christ will be hosting a Health and Safety Fair June 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church located at 6941 Sledge Road in Millington. 

First Baptist VBS

Millington First Baptist Church will host Vacation Bible School June 19-22 from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 4 to fourth grade (completed) called Twists & Turns. Also Millington FBC will have VBX during the same time period for fifth to eighth graders (completed) located at 5010 West Union Road. 2023 Flag City Freedom Celebration

The 2023 Flag City Freedom Celebration presented by Millington Parks and Recreation is scheduled for June 29 at the Millington Sports Complex. Gates will open at 6 p.m. with $5 parking per vehicle. The entry will be at the corner of Jack Huffman and Newport. There will be music by Sherry-Oke. Bring your picnic baskets, coolers and lawn chairs. Food and beverages concessions will be available for purchase. There are no pets, fireworks, open fires, grills, tents, soliciting and political campaigning. The event is sponsored by Homer Skelton Dodge, Jeep and Ram, Ritter Communications, Republic Services and Homer Skelton Ford Millington. For more information, call 873-5770. 

Sweet Summertime Show

The Sweet Summertime Craft & Vendor Show will be held July 8 at the Baker Community Center located at 7942 Church Street in Millington. The time for the show is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 873-5770.

Summer of Fun in Millington 

The City of Millington Summer of Fun will be held throughout June and July on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon at Aycock Park located at 7330 Renda Street in Millington. Activities are subject to change. Things kicked off June 1 with Making Slime & Experiment.

At the Millington Library

The Library hosts free Adult Ukulele Lessons every Monday at 5 p.m., and there are other events like Afternoon Storytime at the Millington Public Library. For more information, call 872-1585 or visit 4858 Navy Road in Millington.

Millington Rec Volleyball

Registration has started for the upcoming summer adult co-ed volleyball league at Millington Parks and Recreation. You can sign your team up now until the end of June. There is a cost per team and teams are limited to 10 players. Games will be played during the week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) starting July 17 and lasting until August 24. This is not a competitive league. If you take the game too seriously, this is not for you. This is a fun league.There is a limit of nine teams and it’s first come, first served so register your team as quickly as possible. Get your friends, colleagues, family, etc… together and come have some fun. You can pay your fees one of two ways: call the office at 901-873-5770 during normal business hours (7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday) or come by Baker Community Center at 7942 Church Street within those same hours to pay in person.
