Hernando de Soto Bridge Inspection

SHELBY COUNTY–Structural Arch Inspection of the I-40 over the Mississippi River Bridge (Hernando de Soto)

LOOK AHEAD:

Tuesday, April 25 through Wednesday, May 3: There are a couple days in there for weather delays, if needed, but we’re hopeful it won’t take the full time. This should give some buffer before Memphis in May begins on May 5.

Proposed Lane Closures: We propose to close the EB & WB outside lane and shoulder to provide a staging area for vehicles and equipment, as well as access for the manlift. The arch access ladder is located on the north truss at Pier B (WB lanes), so we’ll need to close the WB direction for the duration.

In addition, we would like to close the EB outside lane and shoulder for roughly 2-3 days so we can use the manlift to inspect the south truss.

Proposed Closure Times: We understand that the heaviest EB traffic occurs in the AM, and the heaviest WB traffic occurs in the PM. We propose to close the WB lanes from dawn to 3:00 p.m. (Mon-Fri) and dawn to dusk (Saturday and Sunday).

We propose to close the EB lanes (as needed) from 9:00 a.m.-dusk (Mon-Fri) and dawn to dusk (Saturday and Sunday).
