Living History

Abandoned Antiques’ Let Freedom Ring Living History presented by the Ghost Soldiers Mess is scheduled for May 14 at 3 p.m. at  8323 Highway 51 North in Millington. For more information, visit Abandoned Antiques on Facebook. 

Senior Exercise

The senior exercise club meets Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Baker Community Center located at 7942 Church Street in Millington. For more information, call 873-5770. 

Millington Food Pantry

The Millington Food Pantry is located on the grounds of Millington First United Methodist Church at 8029 Wilkinsville Road, is available to qualified residents of 38053 living in Shelby County.  Hours of operation are each Tuesday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the third Saturday of each month 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Call 901-872-2771 to make an appointment.  Appointments are not made  in advance of the day the pantry is open.

Chamber Golf Tournament News

The 2023 Millington Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament is set for June 16 at Glen Eagle Golf Course located at 6168 Attu Street. Registration is at 11 a.m. with an 11:30 ball drop. The shotgun start is at noon. For more information or to sponsor a hole, call 872-1486.

Pow Wow set for May 20-21

The Turtle Island Native American Association (non-profit organization) will host the 17th Annual Millington Pow Wow with VFW Post 7175 at 4681 Cuba-Millington Road in Millington. The event is scheduled for May 20-21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

There will be displays, demonstrations, Native American crafts, music and much more. For tickets and more information, call 876-4015.  

Soul Out Ministries School Drive

Soul Out Ministries is giving away to grades third to seventh free school supplies which began March 20 at the Baker Community Center located at 7942 Church Street. The days it will be available are Monday 2 to 5 p.m., Tuesday 2 to 4 p.m. and Wednesday 2 to 5 p.m. Applications can be picked up and returned to Baker Community Center during normal business hours.

 The program will offer tutoring by retired teachers, educational games, arts, and crafts. Information for the free summer program will be provided before the end of the school year.

Ladies Tea @ Abandoned Antiques

On Saturday May 13 the Mother’s Day Special History and Lace Ladies Tea will take place at Abandoned Antiques located at 8323 Highway 51 North. At the Millington Library

The Library hosts free Adult Ukulele Lessons every Monday at 5 p.m., and there are other events like Afternoon Storytime at the Millington Public Library. For more information, call 872-1585 or visit 4858 Navy Road in Millington.

CBC Monthly Meeting

The Millington City Beautiful Commission meets monthly on the first Thursday of each month at the Millington IDB Building located at 7965 Veterans Parkway. The public is welcomed to attend. 

Hangar Dance

Abandoned Antiques located at 8323 Highway 51 North presents Hanger Dance featuring Mid-South Jazz Trio for the event to be held May 12 from 7-9:30 p.m. There is a fee and the music will be Big Band/Swing style. Come in period era clothing or just as you are. There will be a best dress contest and door prizes. 

Senior Club

The Millington Senior Citizen’s Club is meeting again Wednesdays at 10 a.m. with entertainment weekly. The club meets at the Baker Community Center located at 7942 Church Street. For more information, call 873-5770.
