By Thomas Sellers Jr.

On Aug. 3 the Millington Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its monthly membership luncheon in the ballroom of the Hampton Inn and Suites located at 8838 Highway 51 North.

Chamber Executive Director Terry Roland, the staff and ambassadors provided a platform for The Millington Star to recognize four of the 2021 Readers’ Choice Award individual winners.

Millington Star editor Thomas Sellers Jr. was joined by sales manager Vicki Clark and sales representative Lyn Whitson in presenting certificates to Firefighter of the Year Jake Haley, Police Officer of the Year Michael Jordan and City Employees of the Year Chief Gary Graves and City Manager Ed Haley.  Jordan was presented his award by his superior officer Sgt. Dennis Brunson.

The Star’s award presentation was part of the Chamber helping the Hometown Newspaper celebrate 70 years of operation. Since 1953, the Chamber has teamed up with The Star in showcasing Millington’s growth, business development and customer service in multiple industries.

Coming this Fall, The Star will have a special 70th Birthday edition that will feature some of the longest running businesses in Flag City. To be a part of this upcoming edition, call 901-433-9138 and ask for Lyn.
