In January, the Millington Central High School Band had a group of students make several honor bands in the Region.
“I would like to congratulate them and all the students who auditioned,” MCHS Band Director Kreston Smith said. “The process is far more important than the reward as it prepares these students for the focus required for job interviews and future moments where they put under pressure.”
The All-West Tennessee Honor Band representatives from Millington are Mallory Howard (freshman clarinet), and Allison Kiefer (junior percussion).
The two students above will perform with the best high school musicians in West Tennessee at the Canon Center in February.
Also the University of Memphis Honor Band members are Samarra Davis (senior flute), Mallory Howard (freshman clarinet), Jerry Theuns (junior bass clarinet), Gena Ann Parker (junior bari sax), Quinn Cox (senior euphonium), Tyler Bryson (junior percussion) and Allison Kiefer (junior percussion).
“The seven above students will perform at the University of Memphis with some of the finest Mid-South area student musicians,” Smith noted. “They also will interact with U of M professors, get to see the campus, and experience a weekend of college.”
