The plans for a Alan Cross Day have been announced.

On Feb. 2, the Millington VFW Post 7175 will host the former Millington Trojan and University of Memphis standout.

Cross was All-Region linebacker and long snapper for the Trojans. He won 2011 Millington Star Athlete of the Year Award for his play on the gridiron and hardwood for Millington.

After walking on to the Memphis Tiger Football team that fall, Cross earned a spot on the team. He leaves the program as the most prolific tight end in school history.

Entering his senior season (2015), Cross caught more touchdown passes than any other tight end in school history with 11. The former walk-on caught 65 passes in those three seasons for 821 yards. For an average of 12.6 yards per reception.

This past season Cross added 3 touchdowns while compiling 229 more yards to his record. He finished the season with 25 catches.

For more information, call 872-7175 or the Millington Area Chamber of Commerce at 872-1486.

Cross will be recognized by the Chamber and be the featured speaker at the monthly Chamber Luncheon hosted by the VFW on Feb. 2. Lunch is $10 and guest must RSVP with the Chamber.
